Carstairs Capital was formed to pay tribute to the late Ronald Carstairs and his legacy and to highlight the achievements of his successful and prominent merchant banking career in Hong Kong and China. 

Carstairs Capital focuses on investing in unlisted private Hong Kong companies, involved mainly in services, new media and information technology sectors.

These are usually businesses managed by the founders/shareholders, who have a very strong commitment to the success of the business, and are very pro-active about continuous improvement.

Many of the companies, which choose to receive an investment from us, plan to list on Hong Kong’s stock exchange and want to implement improvements to their management systems andf community brand building so that they can become more competitive and grow more quickly.

Carstairs Capital makes 4-5 investments per year, we are very selective about only investing in the most well managed private companies. The most significant issue we consider when evaluating an investment is the capability and track record of the main shareholders and senior management team. We aim to invest in companies with proven and result orientated management teams.

Carstairs Capital believes the future of social media, is about content. We need ideas and technology that can leverage all this available online content (including status and activity streams) to enhance real world social interactions. We beleive, the word “social” is there for a reason the Internet isn’t just about broadcasting and consuming, its about interaction.
